Aadhi Kalaikol 2024
The Aadhi Kalaikol – Adi Dravidar & Tribal Literary and Art Conclave, held on 2 December 2024 at Chennai Trade Centre, Nandambakkam, was a landmark initiative celebrating the rich literary, artistic and cultural heritage of Adi Dravidar and Tribal communities. With 15,000+ visitors, the exhibition showcased their history, traditions and creative expressions through a Wall of History, 300+ photographs by 40+ eminent photographers, 100+ paintings and sculptures, 1,000+ books, and 800+ traditional musical instruments and artistic costumes.
The conclave also featured 20+ interactive traditional art workshops and showcased 30+ suppressed art forms, including Tribal Dances, Naiyandi Melam and other traditional performances. A literary seminar with 11 contemporary writers explored issues relating to social justice, education, economic empowerment and cultural preservation. Through its diverse exhibitions, workshops, literary discussions and cultural performances, Aadhi Kalaikol provided a vibrant platform to preserve, promote and celebrate the heritage and contributions of Adi Dravidar and Tribal communities.
